South Korea, China, and Japan are upping their direct investment in ASEAN.<br />The Korea International Trade Association says South Korea poured six-point-one billion U.S. dollars into ASEAN last year, up 16-point-seven percent from the previous year.<br />But the amount is just a third of Japan's.<br />China, which is promoting its Belt and Road Initiative, is focusing most of its ASEAN investment in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.<br />Last year, the three countries accounted for almost a quarter of total direct investment into the rapidly-developing Southeast Asia region.<br />
